God Made Everything
Genesis 1 · Tiny Bible Story for ages 2–4
In the beginning, it is dark. Dark, dark, dark. There is deep, deep water. Close your eyes: dark!
God says, “Let there be light.” And there is light! God sees that it is good. Open your eyes: hello, light!
God makes the sky up high. God makes the sea down low. Splash, splash! Point up! Point down!
God makes the green grass. God makes tall trees with fruit. Where is the fruit? Stretch up tall like a tree!
God makes the sun for the day. God makes the moon and the stars. God sees that it is good. Twinkle your fingers like stars!
God makes big animals for the sea. God makes little fish. Blub, blub, swim! Swim with your hands: swish!
God makes the birds. Up, up they fly in the sky. Tweet, tweet! Flap your arms like wings!
God makes the animals, big and small. Moo, says the cow! God sees that it is good. Stomp, stomp! Hop, hop!
God makes people, a man and a woman. He makes them like himself. God blesses them. Point to the man and woman!
God looks at all he has made. The sky, the sea, the animals, the people. It is very good! Clap, clap for God!
On the seventh day, God rests. He blesses the day. God sees that it is good. Lie down and rest. Ahh.
Prayer: Thank you, God, for making the whole world. Amen.
For grown-ups: Let your child point to each picture before you turn the page. Make the sounds together. On the last page, rest like God rests and ask: “What else did God make?”
