Noah’s Big Boat
Genesis 6–9 · Tiny Bible Story for ages 2–4
God talks to Noah. Noah builds a big, big boat. Bang, bang, bang! Hammer with your fist: bang!
The boat has a door. The boat has a window. Where is the window? Knock, knock on the door!
Noah brings food into the boat. Food for his family. Food for the animals. Yum, yum! Pat your tummy!
Here come the animals, two by two. Two big elephants go in. Stomp, stomp! Stomp like an elephant!
Here come the birds, two by two. Flap, flap, in they go! Flap your arms like wings!
Noah’s family goes in too. God shuts the door. God keeps them safe. Shut the door: click!
Pitter, patter! Down comes the rain. Rain all day, and rain all night. Tap your fingers like rain!
The water goes up, up, up. The boat floats on the water. God keeps them safe. Rock, rock, rock the boat!
God remembers Noah and the animals. God sends a wind: whoosh! The water goes down. Blow like the wind: whoosh!
Noah opens the window. He sends out a dove. The dove brings back a leaf! Where is the dove?
The ground is dry! Out comes Noah’s family. Out come the animals, hop, hop! Hop, hop! Out we go!
God sets his rainbow in the cloud. God remembers his promise. God keeps them safe. Trace the rainbow slowly.
Prayer: Thank you, God, for keeping us safe. Amen.
For grown-ups: Bang, stomp and tap along with your child. On the last page, trace the rainbow slowly with a finger and say: “The rainbow is God’s promise.”
