The Lord Is My Shepherd
Psalm 23 · Tiny Bible Story for ages 2–4
David is a shepherd boy. He takes care of his father’s sheep. Baa, baa, baa! Point to David!
Where are the sheep? Here they are! One sheep, two sheep, three sheep. Count the sheep with me!
David sings a song to God. Listen to his song. The LORD is my shepherd. Sing with me: la, la, la!
God takes care of me, like a shepherd. I have all I need. Yes, yes, yes! Nod your head: yes, yes!
He makes me lie down in green grass. Soft, soft, green grass. Ahh. Lie down on the soft grass.
He leads me by quiet water. The water is still. Shh, shh, shh. Sip, sip, cool water!
He makes me strong again. He shows me the right way to go. The LORD is my shepherd. Walk, walk with the shepherd!
Even when it is dark, I will not be afraid. You are with me. Give yourself a big hug!
You make a table for me. You fill my cup. It is full, so full! Fill your cup: full, full!
Your goodness and love follow me. Every day, every day, every day! Follow me: step, step, step!
I will live in God’s house forever. Forever and ever. The LORD is my shepherd. Snuggle up and say it softly.
Prayer: Thank you, God, for being my shepherd. Amen.
For grown-ups: Read this one slowly, like a lullaby. Count the sheep together and let your child lie down on the green grass page. Ask: “Who takes care of the sheep?”
