Micah Foretells Bethlehem Preschool Lesson

Preschool lesson (ages 3–6, 20 minutes)

1. Welcome (3 min)

Sit in a circle, greet every child by name and show one thing from the story to touch.

2. The little story (5 min)

Teach the refrain first: “God had a big plan for little Bethlehem.”

Micah was a prophet – a man who tells God’s words. He lived in hard times. Enemies were coming, and God’s people needed a good leader.

One day God gave Micah a message. It was about a town called Bethlehem. Bethlehem was a very small town. Long before, King David had grown up there. He was a shepherd boy who took care of his father’s sheep.

Micah said, “But you, Bethlehem, being small, out of you one will come who is to be ruler in Israel.” A ruler is a leader, like a king. God had a big plan for little Bethlehem.

Can you make yourself very small, like little Bethlehem? Curl up tiny! Now stand up tall, like a king!

Micah said this ruler was “from of old, from ancient times.” That means from very long ago – from before anyone can remember.

Micah also said that God’s people would have to wait. They would wait until a mother had her baby.

What would this ruler be like? Micah said, “He shall stand, and shall shepherd in the strength of the LORD.” He would take care of God’s people, like a shepherd cares for his sheep. Baa! Can you say baa like a little lamb?

Micah said, “He will be great to the ends of the earth.” The ends of the earth means everywhere – all over the whole world.

And Micah said, “He will be our peace.” Peace means everything is well and calm, like a quiet night when you feel safe. God had a big plan for little Bethlehem.

The people waited. They waited and waited. Hundreds and hundreds of years went by.

Then one day, a man named Joseph had to go to Bethlehem. Bethlehem was David’s town, and Joseph was from David’s family. Mary went with him. She was going to have a baby. Can you walk in place, step by step, all the way to Bethlehem?

In Bethlehem, there was no room for them in the inn. An inn is a house where travelers sleep. And while they were there, the baby was born.

It was a baby boy, Mary’s first son. His name was Jesus. Mary wrapped him in strips of cloth. She laid him in a manger – a box where animals eat. God had a big plan for little Bethlehem.

Later, wise men came from the east. They had seen a star. “Where is he who is born King of the Jews?” they asked.

King Herod asked the teachers of God’s Word, “Where will the Christ be born?” The Christ is the King that God had promised. “In Bethlehem,” they said. They knew Micah’s words!

So the wise men went to little Bethlehem. The star went before them. It stopped over the place where the child was. They were very, very glad! They bowed down to Jesus, and they gave him gifts: gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Frankincense and myrrh are things that smell sweet.

God did just what he said he would do, even after hundreds of years. God does not forget his promises – not one. God had a big plan for little Bethlehem.

3. Talk together (3 min)

4. Move (3 min)

Refrain Freeze: move around the room; when you say the refrain, everyone freezes and says it together.

5. Make (4 min)

Draw little Bethlehem with a shepherd and his sheep.

6. Verse and prayer (2 min)

“He will be our peace” — Micah 5:5 (He → point up high; our peace → cross your hands over your heart)

Dear God, thank you that you keep your promises. Thank you for sending Jesus to little Bethlehem. Amen.

Lesson for older kids (ages 6–10)

Big idea: God Uses Small Things

Memory verse: “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me who is to be ruler in Israel.” — Micah 5:2 · WEB

The Bible story

Long ago, a gentle prophet named Micah heard a wonderful secret from God — the greatest King of all would be born in the tiny little town of Bethlehem!

Talk about it

  1. Who was Micah? — A prophet of God
  2. Where did Micah live? — In a town in Judah
  3. What did God give Micah? — A special message
  4. What kind of leader did God say was coming? — A caring shepherd-king
  5. Where would this special ruler be born? — Bethlehem
  6. What was Bethlehem like? — A small town

Where is Jesus in this story?

Micah's promise came true on the very first Christmas! The special ruler God spoke about is Jesus, God's own Son, who was born in the little town of Bethlehem, just as Micah said. Jesus is our gentle Shepherd-King, and He came because God loves us and wanted to rescue us. Micah waited and hoped for Him long ago, and now we can know and love Him too.

What God wants to tell us

Micah's story reminds us that God does not need big, fancy places to do amazing things. He chose the smallest town, Bethlehem, for the greatest gift of all. That means God can use you too, no matter how small or ordinary you feel. When God makes a promise, He always keeps it, and He loves you very, very much.

Prayer

Thank You, God, for keeping Your big promise and sending Jesus to be born in little Bethlehem. Thank You that You use small things to do wonderful works, and that You love me just as I am. Help me to trust You and to share Your love with others. Amen.

🔎 SEO-Konzept

Obwohl die Seite eine JavaScript-App ist, ist sie für Google & Social-Bots vollständig lesbar — durch server-seitiges Rendering der Meta-Daten.

On-Page & Inhalt
★
Server-seitige Meta pro Story: story-meta.php backt Title, Description & Canonical direkt ins HTML — Google und Link-Vorschauen (WhatsApp, Facebook, X) sehen die richtigen Daten, auch ganz ohne JavaScript.
★
Jede Story handoptimiert: SEO-Title (≤60 Zeichen, Keyword vorn), Meta-Description (~155 Zeichen) und passende Keywords — nach festem Regelwerk erzeugt.
★
Einzigartiger Inhalt: jede Geschichte ist eigens geschrieben — kein Duplicate Content, kindgerechte Sprache, klare Überschriften-Struktur.
★
Technik, Rich Results & Mobile
★
Crawlbar ohne JS: ein <noscript>-Block listet alle Geschichten als echte Links — Crawler ohne JavaScript finden trotzdem jede Seite.
★
