The Wedding Supper of the Lamb Preschool Lesson
Preschool lesson (ages 3–6, 20 minutes)
1. Welcome (3 min)
Sit in a circle, greet every child by name and show one thing from the story to touch.
2. The little story (5 min)
Teach the refrain first: “Heaven was getting ready for a wedding!”
John, the friend of Jesus, was on the island of Patmos. There God showed him many things in heaven. One day John heard something wonderful. It sounded like a great crowd of people, shouting for joy.
They shouted, “Hallelujah! Salvation, power, and glory belong to our God.” Hallelujah means: praise the Lord! Can you shout it too? Hallelujah!
The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures bowed down before God’s throne. They said, “Amen! Hallelujah!”
Then a voice came from the throne. “Give praise to our God, all you his servants. You who fear him, the small and the great!” Can you make yourself very small? Now stretch up very big! Small and great – everyone can praise God. Even you!
Then John heard it again. It sounded like a great crowd. It sounded like many waters, and like mighty thunders! Boom!
“Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns!” To reign means to rule as king. God is the King of everything.
“Let’s rejoice and be exceedingly glad, and let’s give the glory to him. For the wedding of the Lamb has come.” The Lamb is Jesus. Heaven was getting ready for a wedding!
Have you ever been to a wedding? There is music, and there are happy people. There is a big dinner. Everyone wears their best clothes. Jesus once went to a wedding too, in a town called Cana. There he turned water into wine, so the party could go on!
At this wedding, the bride of the Lamb had made herself ready. Getting ready for a wedding takes time. You wash. You put on your very best clothes. She wore bright, pure, fine linen. Linen is a beautiful cloth. Heaven was getting ready for a wedding!
The Bible says what the fine linen is. It is “the righteous acts of the saints.” That means all the good things God’s people do.
Who is the bride? Later an angel showed John “the bride, the Lamb’s wife.” She was like a holy city, coming down out of heaven from God. The bride is all of God’s people together.
Then the angel told John to write this down. “Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb.” Blessed means very happy. A supper is a big dinner. Yum! Heaven was getting ready for a wedding!
The angel said, “These are true words of God.” John fell down at the angel’s feet to worship him.
But the angel said, “Look! Don’t do it! I am a fellow bondservant with you.” That means: I am a helper of God, just like you. Then the angel said, “Worship God.”
Only God should be worshiped. Not angels. Not people. Only God!
God’s words are true, and he invites his children to his joyful feast. Heaven was getting ready for a wedding!

Where is Jesus in this story?
At his Last Supper, Jesus lifted the cup and told his friends he would not drink from the fruit of the vine again until the day he drinks it new with them in his Father's kingdom (Matthew 26:29). John's vision of the wedding supper of the Lamb shows that joyful day. Jesus has been looking forward to sharing that meal with you.
What God wants to tell us
This story shows us that God is planning the most joyful party ever, and every person who loves him is invited to come. No matter how sad or hard our days can feel, God promises that one day all the tears will be gone. Heaven will be full of singing, feasting, and love that never ends. We can hold on to that hope and feel safe, because God always keeps his promises.
Prayer
Dear Lord, thank you for the happy party you are getting ready in heaven. Thank you that Jesus, the gentle Lamb, loves me and invites me to come. Please help me to trust you and to share your love with others while I wait. I am so glad you always keep your promises. Amen.
