Daniel and the Lions
Daniel 6 · Tiny Bible Story for ages 2–4
King Darius has a good helper. His name is Daniel. The king likes Daniel. Point to the king’s crown!
Daniel prays to God. He prays three times a day. One, two, three! Count with me: one, two, three!
Some men want a new law. Pray only to the king! The king signs it. Sign your name: scribble, scribble!
Daniel goes home to his open window. He kneels and prays, just like before. Daniel trusts in his God. Kneel down and fold your hands.
The king is sad. He wants to help Daniel. He tries and tries all day. Show me a sad face.
Daniel is put in the lions’ den. A den is a lion house. Where are the lions?
The king goes home. All night long, he cannot sleep. Toss and turn, toss and turn.
God sends his angel. He shuts the lions’ mouths. Mmm, mmm! Shut your mouth tight: mmm!
The lions do not hurt Daniel. Not one bit! Daniel trusts in his God. Where is Daniel?
Early in the morning, the king hurries to the den. “Daniel!” he calls. Call out: Daniel, Daniel!
Daniel says, “My God has sent his angel.” The king is so glad! Up comes Daniel. Clap, clap! Hooray!
Daniel is safe. God keeps Daniel safe all night. Daniel trusts in his God. Fold your hands and rest.
Prayer: Thank you, God, for hearing my prayers. Amen.
For grown-ups: Count “one, two, three” on your fingers with Daniel. On the angel page, close your mouths tight together like the lions. Ask: “Who keeps Daniel safe?”
